Goodyear PeopleMover
Through The Years: 1974 -1976

"But that was a quarter century ago. The world has come a long way since then." - Walt Disney 55kb.rm (:06sec)

Guided Tour Hostess Jody Russell explains the PeopleMover's unique dynamic boarding system (April 1974):

"Right now we're going to be going into Tomorrowland, over here to the left. We're going to take the PeopleMover cars, those cars on the elevated beamways.
The PeopleMover cars here never stop...and they won't stop for us...but there's no problem with getting on, because they go very slow and the platform which we'll be standing on is also moving...but they're moving at the same time...and it's really no problem...okay? Heh-heh, not at all, heh!
No, really, it's not..."

Someday the PeopleMover may take you on a shopping tour through stores in your community, and this is how it might be. We're now inside The Character Shop. Across the way is the entrance to the Flight to the Moon, departing for outer space every few minutes. And just ahead is America Sings, Disneyland's tribute to two hundred years of American music.
Walt Disney often said, "Disneyland will never be completed," and to illustrate this, we'd like to show you a preview of future attractions now on the Disney drawing boards.
The next stop, or rather, the next sight on this transportation system that never stops, is inside the Character Shop. It's the modern way to window shop.
Below us, Tomorrowland's Character Shop. Someday the PeopleMover may be carrying you through stores and shopping malls.
Here's the spectacular Space Mountain, towering symbol of the Space Age and home of a thrilling race through the universe. Inside Space Mountain, Disneyland astronauts will rocket through showering meteors, racing comets, shooting stars, and the whirling galaxies of outer space.

These stickers used to adorn the doors of the PeopleMover, but you couldn't see them until the doors closed.
